INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS. PROVEN RESULTS. COLUMBIA

Courtney Shea joined Columbia Capital in 2013 after more than thirty years working with governmental issuers to foster creative financing solutions and became a part-owner of the firm in 2016. Ms. Shea was an investment banker with several Wall Street firms, including running the national public finance department of an international major money center bank for five years. Her experience includes work with the States of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin; the Illinois Finance Authority; the Illinois Toll Highway Authority; the Illinois Sports Authority; the Illinois Housing Development Authority; Cook and DuPage Counties; the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority; and the City of Chicago and its sister agencies.

Ms. Shea's work for Columbia Capital included advising the City of Chicago in 2015 on its first long-term issuance after being downgraded below investment grade by one rating agency, a complex transaction converting variable rate bonds to a long-term fixed rate financing. She has also advised on transactions for the State of Illinois, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Cook County and the Chicago Public Schools.

Ms. Shea holds the following degrees: a B.A. with high honors in Economics from the University of Notre Dame, a J.D. from Loyola University, and an M.B.A. with high honors in Finance from the University of Chicago. She is admitted to practice law in Illinois. Additionally, Ms. Shea is a founding member of Women in Public Finance and a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. She is a Series 50 municipal advisor representative and an investment adviser representative.
